Dana begins production of Spicer TZL Series transmissions in China

ABR Staff Writer Published 29 February 2012

Tier One powertrain supplier Dana Holding has begun the production of Spicer TZL Series powershift transmissions in China.

The new Spicer TZL16 was developed for 17-tonne (19-ton) ZL50 front-end loaders, which are about two-thirds of the front-end loaders produced in the country.

Dana Off-Highway Driveline Technologies president Aziz Aghili said the production of the TZL16 transmission marks a major milestone in the company's 20-year commitment to its Chinese customers.

"The Chinese construction market is growing steadily, and there is an increasing number of Chinese manufacturers pursuing global expansion," Aghili said.

"Dana can best support this growth opportunity with an increased presence in both product range and in-region operational capability."

The new four-speed transmission platform provides the front-end loaders with higher horsepower capability, reduced maintenance, and smoother, quieter operation.

Dana said that it has begun the development on next products in TZL Series, which include the Spicer TZL18 transmission for 21-tonne (23-ton) front-end loaders and the Spicer TMG14 transmissions for 110-160 kW motor graders with the production to begin this spring.
