Ford to unveil 1.0 litre EcoBoost engine

US automaker Ford is planning to launch the 1.0 litre EcoBoost engine which combines turbocharging, direct injection and twin variable cam timing to deliver performance, refinement and enhanced fuel saving.

The company said that the new engine will generate a total output of 180 hp and will replace the current 1.6 litre four-cylinder equipped units by 2015.

The new 92kW/170Nm EcoBoost engine is being offered on the Ford Focus in two versions, with 99 HP and with 125 HP, the 99 HP version, will burn an average of 5 litres per 100 km and will emit 109g of CO2 per km.

Ford said that the new engine will also be launched in B-MAX and C-MAX later this year and is also planning to launch 2.3L EcoBoost with a probable 320-hp.
