ABR Staff Writer Published 19 January 2009

According to Ford, the pricing for the 2010 Lincoln MKT will start at $44,995 for the front-wheel-drive model

Ford Motor has announced that it will launch the 2010 Lincoln MKT premium crossover in late summer 2009.

The MKT's all V-6 lineup and standard SelectShift automatic transmission with racing-style paddle shifters offer fuel economy and the performance with two V-6 engines, including one with EcoBoost technology.

According to Ford, the pricing for the 2010 Lincoln MKT will start at $44,995 for the front-wheel-drive model.  In addition to a front-wheel drive powertrain, the 2010 Lincoln MKT will also be offered with all-wheel-drive (AWD).

The AWD model with 3.7-litre engine is expected to carry a starting price of $46,990.

The company claims that the 2010 Lincoln MKT will be available with a premium, 3.5-liter V-6 EcoBoost powertrain as well and all EcoBoost models will be fitted with AWD.

The direct-injection, twin-turbo, 355hp engine is expected to deliver best-in-class power and highway fuel economy. The 355hp Lincoln MKT will have a starting price of $49,995 and a full-equipped, twin turbo 355hp Lincoln MKT is expected to cost approximately $55,000.

According to Ron Heiser (Hizer), Chief Engineer, the 2010 Lincoln MKT will draw younger customers into the Lincoln showroom, as did the Navigator. He also believes this all-new full-size crossover will attract many female buyers. Hizer says their target is Boomers and early GenX buyers who will especially be fascinated with and attracted to the active park assist system.
