MNAO to unveil SKYACTIV technologies

Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) will unveil its suite of SKYACTIV technologies at the New York International Auto Show, alongside the North American debut of its MINAGI Concept and the US debut of its refreshed 2012 Mazda3.

SKYACTIV includes redesigned internal combustion gasoline and diesel engines, manual and automatic transmissions, and an advanced body and chassis.

The company said that together, these components will improve upon every aspect of the driving experience, including the vehicle's performance, handling, fuel economy and safety.

The first application of the company's new, SKYACTIV-G gasoline engine combined with SKYACTIV transmissions will debut in the 2012 Mazda3 later this year.

Mazda3 which is refreshed for 2012 receives the SKYACTIV powertrain as well as a refined interior and exterior design and new safety features.

MNAO said that the MINAGI Concept is a compact SUV, and the first Mazda concept vehicle to fully adopt its new SKYACTIV suite of technologies and its new KODO (Soul of Motion) design theme, which was initially seen in the SHINARI Concept that was debuted last year.
