Renault to invest EUR300m at French powertrain plant

French carmaker Renault is planning to invest EUR300m at its engine and gearbox production plant in Cléon, France.

The investment will also be used for the electric motor that will equip Renault Z E cars.

The French carmaker has also renewed its cooperation agreement with Total for further three years (2012-2014), which will cover research and development of high-technology lubricants and fuels.

The deal will also cover exclusive recommendation of Elf lubricants - Elf as a brand of Total - across Renault and Dacia worldwide networks, and motorsport with Renault Sport F1 - engine designer & manufacturer - as well as Renault Sport technologies.

According to the company the deal emphasizes the involvement of the Total Group in marketing products and also enhancing the technical & environmental competitiveness of both Renault and Dacia vehicles.
